Progress is slow

I've been moving slowly forward with a few projects.  Of course there is never enough time to do everything I'd like!

This is the center of a new quilt top.  Years ago (we won't worry about how many years) I had purchased these fabrics to make drapes.  I do love the patterns and figured they would make the perfect duo for this newbie to play with.

I find that each block pattern I learn becomes my favorite, so log cabin blocks and all of their glorious possibilities are my current love.

But of course I'm eager to learn as much as I can as fast as I can so next up is chevrons...

The Ann Arbor Modern Quilt Guild has a crayon challenge going.  I was super lucky to get the most lovely shade of green!  So I have begun playing with designs.

I only have till the November meeting to get this one done.  Seems like forever yes?  Well, as I have yet to complete an entire quilt this will indeed be a challenge for me!

I have a few block of the month projects going and am scoping out patterns for Christmas patterns so hopefully I'll have more to share soon :)

Quilting

This is my first finished quilt top!  It's for my mother.  Poor thing saw the finished top months ago and I have yet to quilt it.  Being a new quilter I'm finding the process of doing the actual quilting a bit daunting!  So it sits and sits while I work on more tops and BOMs.  I swear that she'll have it for her birthday in November.  Or maybe Christmas.  Of course New Years gifts are always unexpected.....

For now it is hanging on the door of my sewing room.
